HOLLYWOOD -- A packed crowd of Hollywood industryites -- including Dustin Hoffman, Ryan Gosling, Steve Zaillian, Curtis Hanson and Marc Forster -- rocked their heads in unison and chanted "metal on metal" at an impromptu concert following the L.A. preem of docu "Anvil! The Story of Anvil."
"Can you believe the turnout -- for Anvil?" asked the pic's incredulous helmer, Sacha Gervasi, before the Tuesday screening in the Egyptian Theater.

Gervasi met the Canadian metal band in London as a teenager and later toured with them as a roadie, explained Keanu Reeves in a lengthy intro before the film: "Sacha took the Anvil guys to his mother's house to have a cup of tea..."

Gervasi reconnected with the band 20 years later and documented their ongoing struggle for recognition and fame.

At least in Hollywood, Anvil got its 15 minutes.
